Seth's wishlist this past Christmas was gear so he could go backcountry skiing. I must admit I'm not in love with the idea of him skiing in the backcountry. Just too dangerous. But his insistence was growing, so I decided I better get on board. So midway through my Christmas shopping, I decided that he was eventually going to spend all the money to get all the gear anyway, so I might as well make him happy by getting him started. Pete helped hook me up with bindings, and he made sure I got the right stuff when it came to avalanche beacons, shovels, etc. So by the time Christmas rolled around, boots was the only thing that Seth still needed in order to hit the mountain. Last weekend, conditions were finally such that Seth was able to get out and ski the backcountry. Photos courtesy of our friend, Doug. Thank you, Doug and Pete, for keeping Seth alive with your vast snow/avalanche knowledge.
And this last one is Pete.
