Avery's favorite song of the moment is called "Movements" by Rend Collective Experiment, an Irish folkey worship band that we enjoy. When I asked her what she liked about the song, she said, "It praises God but it is still cheerful." The song definitely has an Avery feel to it....bouncy and happy, makes you want to dance. Just try and listen without bouncing along :) Other favorite happy songs that the girls have right now: "This Is What You Do" by Bethel Music, and several songs by All Sons & Daughters (Let It Shine, Alive, and Reason to Sing).
The other day, Sadie and I were cooking dinner together and she asked me what makes an author one of my favorites. I rattled off some of the things that draw me to an author and then turned the question on her. She said the way an author words things ("how he puts things") draws her in. She prefers authors that give the "right" amount of details, in other words, enough to be descriptive and interesting, but not so many that it bores her. Some of her favorite authors as of late: Rick Riordan (he's been her top pick for the last couple years), Lemony Snicket, Veronica Roth, Wendy Mass.
So there you have it, a couple of "favorites" from the Kappes house right now.
